  1. Well the TV here has been flapping about it all week long and really getting folks stirred into a frenzy, as if they need that. Today was the last day of tax free hurricane supply buying.

  2. Ugghhh... hopefully it will not be as bad this year. They are saying the water is not as warm as it has been...
What can you do, though? Just pray...

  3. Beryl? ugh!

I really do hope that things are very very quiet this year!

  4. Yeah, I'm with Princess Mindy. I think the insurance company would be all snitty and laugh if you make a claim based on Hurricane Beryl.

  5. You can't miss it if you leave near the Gulf. The local media are already in a frenzy about it--they'll probably meltdown when the first real hurricane forms.

Still, I have to admit to having a low level of anxiety about it myself.

  6. I have to leave another comment after reading what the Princess said about Beryl...that name jumped out at me too, and I thought "uh-oh"...just hope that's not some sort of weird omen.

  7. Oh, I don't know -- I think Ernesto is the one with the real ring to it. Hurricane Kirk, on the other hand, sounds kind of, well, I don't know, like you left off a syllable or something!
    :-D

  8. Wonder why they give 'em cute names like "Debby"? Why not stick to pathetic names like Beryl? You could have Abner, Beryl, Clive, Doreen, etc. Or maybe each year could have a theme, like the Old Testament--Abraham, Bilhah, Caleb, etc. Or cartoon characters--Archie, Beetle, Calvin, Dagwood, etc. Somethin'.

  9. Y'all are too funny. I can see the headlines now: Beryl Barrels, Beryl Bombards, Beryl Blasts...

I am with Linda, Ernesto is the name with the real ring to it.

Little David, I read where they have (I think) six lists of names that they rotate. Lasts year's names will come up again in 2008 (I think) and they will take out names like Katrina and Rita and substitute another "K" and "R" name.

I like the idea of theme names. How about a list of Southern names?...Betty Lou, Sue Anne, Billy Bob, Joe Junior, Big Boy and Bubba?

  10. No, that's not right...if they have a six lists of names, it stands to reason that 2005's names would come up again in...(Counting on fingers)...2011...yes, that's it (math was never my stong point!)

  11. Hey, I have a friend named Beryl! We call her Burly, though...I have been praying for you and will continue.
