I Feel Better Now. I Think.

I have been dealing with a killer ear infection since Saturday afternoon. Today is the first day I have been relatively pain-free. Yesterday I had to hand the phone over to my office partner to take a message for me, I could not hear out of either ear what the woman on the phone was saying. That was a bit unnerving. Hopefully by the weekend I will be back to my normal selective hearing!

This evening I came home from work and chose to lay down for just a minute. My husband came home a little later and last I saw of him, he was sitting in his blue chair in the bedroom. Somewhere between then and "nowish", I feel deeply asleep. I was dreaming crazy "Alice in Wonderlandish" dreams (wish I could remember it, I could use the material!). At 7:45, I woke up, looked anxiously at the clock and jumped out of bed, declaring to my "dressed for work" husband, "IT"S SEVEN FORTY-FIVE!!"

His droll and husbandly response? "I know." I then asked him in an accusing voice (since I have to be to work at 8:00), "Why'd you let me sleep so long? And slowly my dulled mind came to life as I realized the evening of my my present day had not yet passed. And boy, was I going to be messed up at bedtime.

And then? In that totally discombobulated condition, I stumbled to the den to read emails and watch this crazy video. I was totally awake by the time I walked that walk, let me tell you. In fact, to be totally crass about it all, if you will excuse me, I think I may need to go check my britches!

  1. I am happy and relieved to hear you are doing better, although your not being able to hear in a concern.

How did you ever find that video? Seems like it captures my life in a nutshell right now...enough said.

Sounds like we are overdue for a chat.

  3. Ouch! Ear infections are PAINFUL. I'm glad you are feeling better.

Funny about the "Alice" dreams. I think those come from fevers, right? The thing about those dreams, I tend to remember them forever.

  5. I hate it when I fall asleep like that for a whole 20 or 30 minutes and wake up swearing I've been asleep for days. For me it's usually the precursor to sleeping like that all night... in 20 minute naps then wake up totally spazzed for 2 or 3 hours before I fall back to sleep again.

  7. My "ear infection" this past week turned into a tooth extraction. Long story. Your video reminds me somewhat of an old amusement park ride called "the Mouse". The wheels on the cars were stationed far enough back to allow a great deal of the front end of the car to extend into empty space. At each and every turn you thought you were jumping the tracks...

  8. Jim, God yes I remember that ride the "mouse". Rode it ONCE in Galveston and it cured me from roller coaster rides forever. I remember at the time thinking that the car was actually broke and I really did think I was going to loose my life that night.

  9. Simple Blog Writer This dream was like a series of "chapters". I love it when I dream like that. I love it more so when I can remember the details of each chapter and string it all together in a story.

Rach Can you imagine how in the world that person managed to keep the camera steady and to film without tripping on something?

Flutterby I've had a few of those nights lately too. I keep wondering if it has anything to do with that menowhatever, but I know I can't be that old yet!

Jenny You know good and well I can't tell you where that is exactly because you would probably haul yourself over there and try to climb to the top of the thing! (Actually, I'm not sure where it is. I saw info on it. I'll try to find it and email you the link.)

Jim I rode my first and last roller coaster ride nearly 33 years ago on my honeymoon. Once was enough for me.!

Jenny I figured you would love roller coasters!

  13. What a GREAT video! I couldn't believe it when I realized the person was tandem walking on the iron framework without a line or anything -- that was AMAZING!! It's so neat to see a video of something like that, because I know I sure as heck am never going to actually WALK something like that in person. Even if I had the opportunity. NEVER.
    :-D
    Glad you're feeling better!
And I did the same thing once -- waking up at 7:45 or so in the evening, thinking it was morning, and ran into my daughter's room, realized she WASN'T in bed -- in a panic thought she had taken herself to catch the schoolbus, and ran outside like a crazy woman only to find her and her little friends swinging on the swingset, looking at me like I'd totally lost my mind... it had to have been 20 years ago, but I remember that total feeling of disorientation SO clearly! It's funny!

    Patti Thanks!

Princess I think I did need that sleep time!
