Unwind, Photo Friday, 03/16/12

Nails (for a nail gun?) and in the second photo, a couple of curled up fishing worms, which I did not notice when I was taking the picture!

I walked a labyrinth earlier in the week. I thought about how that path curls and meanders and I am often not quite sure where I am on the path in terms of getting to the center and then moving back out again. Sometimes I walk and it seems like I am not moving at all. Other times I look up and see the end is near and I am shocked.

I thought about how some finish walking sooner than others and I wondered if life was like that too, that some people walk their journeys quicker than others and yet, their journey can still be considered complete. Then I pondered the things we say to comfort each other when death comes and all the metaphors we use.

Always, as I walk, the tension eases and I unwind.

(This is my contribution to today's Photo Friday theme, Unwind.)

  1. I like the iridescence on the nailheads! They look like little blue-green planets.

I don't know where I am on the path, and many days life feels like trying to run in a dream. Looking forward has never been a 'thing' for me, but I do glance back from time to time to reassure myself that I am, in fact, moving.

And where, please, is the labyrinth?

  2. You're moving, all right, D! I just know you are!

The labyrinth is a canvas one that they set up in the gym of a local Episcopal church. They do it about four times a year I think.

  3. An old man's eyesight, I guess; but I looked at the first picture and, before learning the truth, thought to myself "How did she get all those dimes together for such a picture?"

As far as moving, I think time gives us no choice in the matter. It's not so much about moving as it is to know what each step brings unto us, to believe that, regardless of what we accomplish it in, we have learned something in passing through it....

  4. I walk a trail (almost) everyday, and often fell both ways:

"When is it going to end??"
    "Is it over all ready?"

    At the same time. Hmm...

  5. Jim, that would have been some impressive work, organizing dimes like that!

I am in agreement about learning something through every step!

Glad to I am not alone, Patti! I keep saying I want to start a habit of taking a daily walk...and not doing it. :(

Don't just sit there staring, say something!
