Composure and Reflection

This would have been a better photograph had I taken a moment to check my composition and made sure I had the handle to the coffee cup in the picture. And I did not notice until after I uploaded it the reflection of the trees and my hand. I was waiting in line at Starbucks and did not want to slow things down by trying to get a better shot.

Still, it made me stop and think about the need to maintain my own composure, and the to always consider what I am reflecting as I go about my business in the world.

I left work today at 4:30 and I don't have to go back until Monday morning after Easter. I'm not quite sure what all I will do with my time, but I am sure at least a portion of it will be spent reflecting on Easter and what it means to me.

I may be back between now and then, but if I am not, have a blessed Easter. And for heaven's sake, if you are lucky enough to get one, don't eat all of your chocolate Easter bunny at one sitting. The bunny will revolt and it won't be a pleasant experience. Don't ask me how I know. :)

Finding Light in the Shadows

Shadow searching.

Seeking light.

I think of things I want to write about it, and I swear, they fall right out of my mind into the air! I want to start posting here again and yet I don't seem to manage to do it. I've got a few photos I can post until I am ready to write something again...

The Moon! The Moon!

The moon on Sunday night. The photos do not near do justice to the view I was seeing as I drove along I-10 heading home from Houston. But I tried, because I wanted to remember how everything felt so dark and almost hopeless, and then there was light, hanging right above my head, illuminating my path.

Open Air Chapel

These are photos of a small open air chapel I discovered a few weeks back. It's such a simple and rustic building.

I love the Gothic shaped arches!

I've never seen the name Jesus shaped into a cross like this. I was impressed by the typography. They have all different sorts of crosses hanging on the walls, almost as if different individuals brought them in and hung them there.

This verse was up in the rafters.

I really like how this one turned out. It is on one of the wind chimes hanging there.

My son needs prayers again. Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while will know the problem. We've had three years of relative peace and now a relapse, with some possible big repercussions. Right now we are kind of in a waiting position to see what needs to be done, and what CAN be done.

Decoys and Details

I rode with my husband out of town and took some pictures while he did what he had to do. This sheriff's car was strategically parked along I-10. My husband says there are a couple of different spots where they park the car.

The deputies were not too friendly when I stopped to take their photograph! I smudged out the name of the parish that does this, I did not want to interfere with their police work.

I took a bunch of photos yesterday but when I got home to look at what I had I learned that I'd left the white balance on "indoor light bulb" all day long. Consequently most all of my photos have a bluish cast to them. Sigh. There are many small details and settings I should check before I start taking pictures.

And I suppose if a person paid enough attention to the details, they would know these guys are not real.

Lack of attention to the details is sometimes a problem for me. On the other hand, sometimes the most interesting things come from overlooking the details.

This is a combination of two images. I have no words for her and she prints up very blue but I like it.

There is some deeper thought in all of this. I just don't have it organized in my head yet.

Embrace Hope

This may perhaps be one of my mantras for the new year.

Thoughts and a Request

Pictures taken at Sam Houston Jones state park with my new camera. There is still very much a steep learning curve involved in learning to make the camera do what I want it to do. I like much better using it out of doors than I do trying to take indoor candid shots of people. Hopefully I will get better at that with practice. I have been reading the owner's manual and bought a DVD and an extra book on this specific camera. My inner geek is struggling!

I do plan on coming back to my blog and posting on a more regular basis than what I have been doing. I think I am going to at least commit to putting up a new post once a week and see where that leads.

One more thing, if those of you who pray could remember to pray for my son and his aunt, the one he is living with, I would appreciate it. He is at the moment without a job, but has prospects for one after the first of they year. He met a girl earlier who was not the best influence on him and that is about when things started getting rocky again. Anyway, he is at a place of temptation and is a bit stalled at the moment.

We were fairly close to the geese. They are accustomed to people being around so that is why I was able to get such decent shots of them.
