Brought to You by the Letter "B"

Bluebonnets and Buzzing Bees!

I was in Houston this past weekend and we were headed to church when I looked alongside the Beltway and noticed this big beautiful field of blooming bluebonnets. There was a group of people out there with shovels. I think they were helping themselves to a few plants. Later in the afternoon I went back and got a few photos for myself. There were a couple of families with young children who came while I was there. They were carrying benches and small kids in hopes of getting some classic "child in the bluebonnet field" shots. I tried to get my (22 year old) son to lie down in the field and let me snap a few photos of him but he (for some strange reason) was not at all interested!

  1. I think this might be the first time I've ever seen a picture of a "blue bonnet". Not sure they grow anywhere around here; but, then, being raised in the city, I'm not sure I would have recognized one if it bit me....

  2. Look at that bee working the flower. Now I know why we say "busy as a bee".

  3. Jim I tried to grow them here when we moved back from Houston. They lasted a couple of years and then did not come back. They are really impressive when you see the whole field of them all together. But that is hard to capture in a photo. At least, for me, it is!

Hi TechnoBabe! I suppose you are right about the busy bees! The darn things zip back and forth so much it was hard to get them!

Don't just sit there staring, say something!
